What’s your life story? Does it include thoughts such as:
“That shouldn’t have happened to me.”
“I’m this way because of my mom (husband, boss, kids).”
“I should be further ahead.”
“I’ve had this issue my entire life.”
“I’m not the kind of person who can do that.”
“I/he/she should have (fill in the blank).”
“I/he/she should not have (fill in the blank).”
This kind of thinking keeps us stuck and does nothing to move us forward.
My job, as a coach, is to create awareness around my client’s thoughts and root out “old messaging” and FEAR (false evidence appearing real). I do this for myself too! I do a thought download and self-coaching every day.
I've learned from my own coach and teacher, Brooke Castillo, that awareness around your thoughts can ignite agency and agency always leads to positive change.
One definition of “Agency” is the capacity, condition, or state of acting or of exerting power and taking action, especially to produce a particular effect.
What are you producing in your life? What kind of change do you want to ignite?
Take a look at how you think about your life. If you are defining yourself by your past, it’s likely that nothing will change.
You can’t go back. The past is over. But, you can create a future that is better than your past just by changing your thinking.
