Spring Cleaning - An Inside Job

I love, love, LOVE spring time. Wrapping up from a gray, Northeast Ohio winter inspires gratitude, renewed energy, and so much more. I know I am not alone in this. Although spring officially began March 20, it’s usually in April that we start seeing the effects. From the buds on the trees, to the tulips peeking through the earth, to hearing the songbirds singing, signs of possibility and growth are all around us.

Longer days and warmer temperatures not only trigger a response that we see in nature, but we also start feeling the hope and promise within ourselves. Moods are brighter and layers start to peel away—and I’m not just talking about wool sweaters and heavy coats. I’m talking about the buildup of grime around our mental and emotional spaces.

Absolutely Everything is Progress

In a society which places a high value on success and winning, we sometimes lose sight of the fact that there is massive value in failure. As painful as it can be, even our breakdowns, missteps, and losses can move us forward.  I can look back over the course of my life and see where I played it safe.  It was also at those times that I was stuck and experienced the least amount of growth.  Exactly when and how do we acquire this desire for having to get it right all the time?  We are certainly not born that way.  We are all born with an intense drive to learn and grow.
